Great Big Green Week Follow Up

BCCF eco book swap & plant/seed swap at out stall at the Vegan Fair in Bedford

We’re been too busy to attempt to write up everything that went on during Great Big Green Week but we’d like to welcome new members we’ve met, especially at our very successful stall at the Vegan Fair in Bedford’s Harpur Square, and suffice to say the following:

1) There were many thousands of events across the country, many of which you can see on the Climate Coalition national website.
2) Bedfordshire definitely played its part but we’re still often ‘preaching to the converted’.
3) Every week should be a ‘green week’ during a climate and ecological emergency, and COP26 is fast approaching.

On our Youtube channel you can listen to both recordings of our two BCCF speaker events last Tuesday and Wednesday. Thanks so much to those who came and took part.

THE DAY THE WORLD STOPPED SHOPPING with J B Mackinnonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzW5yivnlCY
We absolutely recommend the book, from Hive or Bookshop.org or you can listen to the audio version. Have a look at his website We’ve been really impressed by him and his writing. Please note his recording will only be available for about days.

MAKING THE MOST OF COP26: Emboldening Leaders to Do Difficult Things with Rob Paton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiPCYEoX8Qg   This was about the little known carbon reduction tool of carbon fee and dividend, around which a vital coalition can potentially be built and alongside other measures. You can find out more here. We agreed this is something that needs ‘broadcasting’ and engaging people about.

Look out for news of a date of our AGM next month.
